I don't think that word means what you think it does...

They call themselves the "Christian Right", or "Dominionists" or something or other, but whatever they call themselves they have been coopted by the Republican Party. Just try to win an election for just about any office in this country and you better be prepared to profess some type of religion; the more mainstream the better, of course. I have always found this one of the more ridiculous aspects of American politics. But lately there's been a breath of fresh air on this front in the form of the new Pope. Yes, the Pope.
The Supreme Pontiff has issued some statements lately that have rattled the cages of the one percenters. Essentially, he told the truth: that capitalism is a highly-unfair enterprise that wastes precious resources for the benefit of the few. As a Humanist, I find it odd but I can't help but like the man. Power needs to be pricked, made uncomfortable, and kept on its toes for the benefit of all of us.
